Accelerated 3–5 Week Experimental Protocols

Shorter, more intensive schedules delivering multiple sessions per week, designed to achieve results faster while using slightly different energy settings.

Specialized Regimens for Peyronie’s Disease

Tailored protocols targeting penile plaques and pain, often with weekly treatments over several weeks, aiming to reduce discomfort and improve curvature.

What Is Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)?

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is a modern, non-invasive treatment that uses targeted acoustic waves to stimulate healing, reduce chronic pain, and restore mobility. It is widely used for conditions such as tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, and joint pain. By improving blood circulation and accelerating tissue repair, ESWT offers effective results without the need for surgery or long recovery times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting an accurate diagnosis can be one of the most impactful experiences that you can have. We can help you get there.

Shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a modern, non-invasive treatment that uses high-frequency, pressurized sound waves delivered through a steel-tipped applicator placed outside the body. In urology, ESWT is most commonly used for erectile dysfunction (ED) but is also beneficial in treating prostatitis, Peyronie’s disease (penile curvature), vaginal dryness, and urinary incontinence.

During the procedure, shockwaves are applied to five different points on the penis using a gel.

The treatment is painless, though some patients may feel a mild tingling sensation.

Each session lasts 15–20 minutes.

A full course includes 6–24 sessions, typically spaced 1–7 days apart.

Painless procedure, no anesthesia required

No need for hospitalization

Patients can return to daily activities immediately after treatment

Very few side effects (mild redness may occur temporarily)

Noticeable improvements may appear within 1 week, though most patients improve after 1 month

No age restrictions for treatment

In Peyronie’s disease, ESWT reduces plaque formation and softens existing scar tissue, helping relieve pain.

Unlike many other treatment options, ESWT has minimal side effects.

Because it is non-invasive, patients can quickly return to their normal routines.

With multiple sessions, ESWT can offer long-term improvement in symptoms.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED):

ESWT stimulates blood vessel growth (neovascularization) in the penis.

A treatment course typically involves 6–18 sessions of about 20 minutes each.

Patients can resume daily life immediately after sessions.

Especially effective in men over 40, though younger men are increasingly benefiting as well.

Chronic Prostatitis:

ESWT promotes healing by creating microtrauma that triggers growth factor release in prostate tissue.

Treatment preserves healthy tissue while repairing damaged areas.

Improvements include: reduced muscle contractions, pain relief by affecting pain receptors, blocking nerve pain signals, and reducing oxidative stress in the prostate.

Protocol: 6–18 sessions, once or twice weekly, with 1500–3000 shockwaves per session. The patient lies on their back, and waves are applied between the scrotum and anus.

Peyronie’s Disease (Penile Curvature):

The disease involves calcification and scarring in the tissue around the erection chambers.

Stages:

Acute phase (up to 1 year): Painful erections occur; ESWT can help reduce pain and slow plaque progression.

Chronic phase: Pain usually subsides; surgical options may be considered if curvature is severe. In patients with ED, penile prosthesis surgery may be added to treatment.

  • The exact number of sessions is tailored to each patient’s condition.

  • Typically, 6–18 sessions are recommended.

  • Up to 3 sessions per week may be performed.
